Made in the USA

More and more we are asked for “Made in the USA” products. One of the beauties of having a hybrid store with both vintage and new, is that we really get to curate our collection. Most vintage offerings were made domestically or came from Europe many years ago. And we are very selective on the new products that we bring in. We have selected semi-custom seating products from some great companies such as Rowe, Lazar, and Norwalk. More on those later! For now, here a few things to think about when deciding whether or not to purchase domestic products:

Of course it can be tempting to buy some of the overseas options when looking strictly at price and thinking about the instant gratification of something like two day shipping. But, it’s worth taking a cue from previous generations and investing in real furniture that can be passed down to future generations. Before you start thinking that we discourage all international designs, trust that some of our favorites over the years have come from overseas (Denmark, Italy, Japan, etc.) However, when buying new furniture there are some very good reasons to consider buying USA made products:

° Helps to support local jobs & the economy 🇺🇸

We are quite knowledgeable about furniture, and while we can't make the same claim about economics, it doesn’t take an advanced degree to figure out that buying domestic products helps support our country. Many of the factories that we buy from had to stop production for the last few months, but were still contributing by making Personal Protective Equipment for the country. Now they’re back to doing what they do best- let’s support them and invest in our country’s future.

° Overall better quality 💪

Factories in the USA have more stringent regulations than those of other countries and thus produce better results. You can also be assured that you are supporting companies with safe and fair working conditions. You’ll have more options for customization and will also have a reliable warranty. In many cases, USA furniture companies have been around for decades and have “tried and true” products.

° Environmentally Friendly ⛰

Hey- we’re all looking for ways to be more green right now & one of the best ways to do this is by investing in pieces that you’ll have long term. Consider that the cost of something is not as inexpensive as it may seem if you have to replace it every few years. Remember, that all of that furniture has to go somewhere and our landfills cannot take that forever. Go green and buy quality, lasting pieces.
